N’Dam puts Rio 2016 behind him with huge KO; Cermeno retains title

N’Dam was one of three professionals to qualify for Rio 2016 in an unprecedented move but went out early as the trio failed to make an impression.

After being handed the opportunity to get back into world contention by the WBA, N’Dam made no mistake by delivering a hammer blow to previously undefeated Alfonso Blanco.

The contest was over within seconds as N’Dam unleashed an almighty blow to leave Blanco prone on the canvas and twitching worryingly.

Elsewhere in China, Nehomar Cermeno beat XiaoJun Qiu for the second time in six months to retain his WBA super bantamweight belt.

The 37 year-old Panamanian carded a unanimous decision to add to the final round knockout scored the previous June.

Cermeno’s record no reads 26-5-1 as the veteran made a second successful defense of his championship.
