Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya is eyeing a massive cross codes battle between two-weight world champion Canelo Alvarez and UFC star Conor McGregor.
De La Hoya has followed professionals Paulie Malignaggi, Chris Van Heerden, Shane Mosley and Michael Katsidis in mentioning McGregor in a potential future fight.
McGregor is gearing up for a boxing debut in 2017 on the back of obtaining a license to box in California despite recently holding MMA titles at featherweight and lightweight.
The Irishman had originally called out former pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather, although seems to have now set his sights a little lower.
As ‘The Notorious’ isn’t ranked by any governing body in the world, any title shot would have to be earned, meaning all contenders ranked in the Top 15 with the major sanctioning bodies could be a target.
