Watch: Deontay Wilder’s road to recovery

Ryan Hafey

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is on the verge on a return to the sport following surgery to repair injuries sustained in 2016.

The undefeated American, one of the most feared punchers on the planet, last fought when stopping Chris Arreola over the summer but suffered hand and bicep ailments that required going under the knife.

Back in the gym and with a renewed vigour, Wilder has his eyes on unifying the top divsion in the New Year after what has been a frustrating period for ‘The Bronze Bomber’.

Stipulated by the World Boxing Council to fight the winner of Alexander Povetkin v Bermane Stiverne, a victory against either could be the catalyst to a future clash opposite Anthony Joshua or Wladimir Klitschko.
