Briton George Groves has fully broken his silence for the first time since recent opponent Eduard Gutknecht was hospitalized following their clash.

The pair met on November 18 at Wembley Arena, with Groves coming out on top after a one-sided twelve round bout.

Gutknecht collapsed soon after and was rushed for immediate medical treatment, although the German is still in a coma amidst fears for his long-term future.

Groves has now pushed the funding page for the Sauerland boxer as his supporters attempt to raise £5,000 to help Gutknecht and his family.

“Out of respect for Eduard and his family’s privacy, I haven’t tweeted anything about his medical situation so far. However, he is still in hospital in a coma after having surgery the night of our fight twelve days ago.

“Please click the link attached set up by my team to help Eduard and his family. He’s a husband and a father and the money raised will go towards helping his family be with him at this difficult time.

“My team are also in the process of organizing and auction with celebrity items people can bid on. All money raised will also go to Eduard’s family.

“Thank you to my friends and family who have already donated, it’s much appreciated.”
