Frankie Gavin fails weight, loses title chance versus Sam Eggington

WBN 21/10/2016

Frankie Gavin hit the scales some two pounds over for his derby clash with Sam Eggington, losing the opportunity to contest the vacant WBC International welterweight title.

The 31 year-old, who last made the limit in May 2015 for a world title fight with Kell Brook, stripped naked but still came in over for Saturday’s contest.

Eggington had no problems making the 147 pound stipulation, coming in comfortably under and will be the only fighter able to take home the fringe title belt.

The pair are due to square off at the Barclaycard Arena on top billing for a Matchroom Boxing show featuring the likes of Kal Yafai and Anthony Ogogo, live on Sky Sports.
