Acosta, Martinez feature on Nov 12 Cotto bill, new signing Zorrilla turns pro

Angel ‘Tito’ Acosta, the KO artist from Barrio Obrero, will be giving a firm step on the road to a world title bout when, on Saturday November 12, go towards the vacant WBO Latino mini flyweight title againts the experienced Mexican fighter Luis Armando Ceja.

The attractive 10-round bout will headline the succesful DIRECTV BOXING NIGHTS series at the Complejo Ferial in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Will be the first boxing card at this luxury compley in the south of the island that will be presented by Miguel Cotto Promotions, in collaboration with Roc Nation Sports and H2 Entertainment.

26-year-old nicknamed Gallo, Ceja has a profesional record of 28-5-3 and 23 knockouts and has won his last four bouts, three of them by the way of KO.

What is equally important, he has never lost by knockout, so is expected to test the punch of Acosta, also 26, who has won by knockout his 14 fights and already once reigned as flyweight champion FECARBOX, the regional agency affiliated with the WBC. Acosta appears ranked in the top 15 of the 108 pounds in the ‘rankings’ of the four major organizations, including 11 by the WBO.

“A win over Ceja, and getting the Latino title, will place Acosta within the top ten of the WBO,” said promoter Hector Soto. “The plan is that it can be fighting for the world title for the middle of next year.”

Cofeaturing unbeaten super flyweight Jose ‘Chiquiro’ Martinez (18-0, 11KO’s), from Las Marias, Puerto Rico will clash in a eight round collide Dominican warrior Juan Guzman (22-6, 12).
And in another attractive match, Emanuel ‘Bebo’ Rivera (16-1, 11), from Toa Baja, will meet with warrior Josean ‘Tren’ Figueroa (11-4-1 five) from Aguada in an 8 round bout.


Well known and international amateur star Danielito Zorrilla who represented Puerto Rico in multiple competitions will turn pro on Saturday November 12 in Ponce on national TV during the live broadcast of DIRECTV Boxing Nights.

Danielito Zorrilla will make his pro debut at the junior welter division in a four fight.

Meanwhile, in his debut with Miguel Cotto Promotions, featherweight Edgardo Ponce Laboy (10-0 and seven) collide with Juan G. Cruz.

Also top talents and part of the newest prospects signed to Miguel Cotto banner; Carlos Caraballo (1-0 and one) will fight at 118lbs against Kelvin Julibe. Former amateur national champion at 123 pounds, Joshuantony Ortiz (1-0 and one), of Gurabo, will face Juan Colon (0-1), of Guayama, at 119 pounds, Juan Carlos Camacho (2- 0, 2KO’s) four round fight with Alexis Diaz, of Caguas, at 122 pounds. Also, undefeated Kelvin Nunez (12-0, 12KO’s) will see action in a six round against Edgar Perez in Arecibo 180 pounds.
