Promoter Bob Arum is under no illusions about what Oscar De La Hoya should do regarding a fight between star fighter Canelo Alvarez and middleweight king Gennady Golovkin.
Speaking on Tuesday at the undercard announcement for Manny Pacquiao v Jessie Vargas on November 5, Arum told FightHype.com in no uncertain terms that he believed De La Hoya was shielding Canelo away from Golovkin.
“Oscar should know better about hiding Canelo from Triple G,” said Arum. “When Oscar was a fighter, he fought everybody, he never ducked anybody. Oscar should make the Canelo-Triple G fight without screwing around anymore.
“They’re wasting time by not making that fight,” he added.
Arum also stated that Canelo had nothing to lose by fighting ‘GGG’ immediately and was only hurting his fanbase by delaying the fight and offering a flat-fee deal through his handlers Golden Boy.
