Light-heavyweight world champion Sergey Kovalev addressed the continued rumour that Gennady Golovkin knocked him down/out whilst sparring at Big Bear back in 2011.
Promoter Kathy Duva has already informed WBN that Kovalev was caught cold by Golovkin at the beginning of his camp whilst the big-punching middleweight was deep into his.
Duva didn’t divulge exactly what went on, although did say that Kovalev was disappointed in himself for agreeing to the spar so early on in his own training.
Asked about the incident during a media session at the Canelo v Smith fight in Texas on Saturday night, Kovalev assured everyone that they shouldn’t believe everything they hear and also commented on reports of a video clip of the ‘GGG’ spar.
Kovalev questioned why the video hadn’t been released after five years of whispers as manager Egil Klimas chuckled beside him.
‘Krusher’ is currently in the start of camp once again, this time for his ‘Pound for Pound’ showdown with Andre Ward in Las Vegas on November 19.
