‘High Stakes’ card takes shape for Walsall on Sept 24

UKO 13/09/2016

Black Country Boxing’s ‘High Stakes’ show, sponsored by Grosvenor Casino Walsall, is taking shape…..and hotting up.

The seven-fight show at Walsall Town Hall on Saturday, 24th September is topped by an intriguing Midlands Area Super Featherweight Title clash between Paul Holt (5-3) and Louis Fielding (6-2).

Brummie Holt gets a second crack at a Midlands strap after going the distance with Bobby Jenkinson for the featherweight crown – despite suffering a broken jaw – last year.

“I am at a better weight this time than I was last time,” the southpaw told www.uko-boxing.com. “I feel like I am at my natural weight now which is great because I do not have to push myself to make the weight or anything like that. Also I have had more notice for this so I have been able to prepare exactly how I want and get in the best possible shape. I’m ready for whatever Fielding has to offer.”

‘Flash’ Fielding, who fights out of Tamworth, is equally confident of having his hand raised.

“Obviously we have prepared a bit differently with him being a southpaw but we have been training to make sure we can deal with that so it won’t be a problem,” he explained. “I am big for my weight at 5’9 and I have a good reach also so obviously I will be playing to my strength and that should be to my advantage.”

Tickets are priced at £30 (general admission) and £60 (VIP Ringside), and can be purchased by calling 0845 111 2900 or directly from any boxer on the bill.

Unbeaten Old Hill lightweight, Manny ‘Pac Man’ Zaber (7-0) takes on Nuneaton’s ‘Mr. Reliable’, Kristian Laight, as he targets a meaningful title, possibly even a crack at the Midlands Super Featherweight Crown, himself.

Wolverhampton cruiserweight, Joshua Burke (1-1), has shaken off a mysterious wrist injury and will face Skegness-based Jason Jones.

Newark’s former kickboxing world champion, super middleweight Chad ‘2 Slick’ Sugden (3-0), faces hard-hitting Stoke scrapper, Mark Till, and ndefeated Birmingham super welterweight, Luke Heron (Walker) (3-0), steps in with Telford’s teak-tough Kieran Gray.

Two debutants complete the card. Coventry cruiserweight, Dilly Singh, and West Bromwich welterweight, Tommy Loach, punch for pay for the first time against as yet unnamed opponents.

The weigh-in and aftershow (over 18’s only) take place at Grosvenor Casino Walsall, Bentley Mill Way, Walsall WS2 0LE (just off junction 10 of the M6). GC Walsall will have a presence at the Town Hall on the evening and have linked up with local taxi firm, Yellow Taxi’s, to supply a number of free taxi’s to take guests from the Town Hall to the casino post-fight.
