Twelve-loss Pina shocks Beltran; Diaz wins in Mexico

Judges scored 77-76 twice and 77-75 in favour of the underdog against the former world title challenger.

In the main event, Guadalajara fighter Carlos Diaz showed progress by defeating Venezuelan Samuel Pana Gonzalez via ten round unanimous decision in a thrilling fight at the gym in Cuajimalpa of Morelos CDMX and transmitted on Box Azteca.

All three judges scored it 97-93 in favor of ‘Chuko’ Diaz (21-0, 10 KOs) who remains undefeated. The fight was full of action and from the very first round both fighters were exchanging blows resulting in a fight with many emotions.

Gonzalez used his attacks in a bid to get the better of Diaz, who showed progress in his boxing and his forcefulness.

“It was a great fight for the fans, I’m happy with my performance. Pana was a great opponent and demanded to give the best of me,” said Diaz.

In other bouts, Alejandro Contreras and Francisco PĆ©rez scored victories on the bill.
