Hearn on Parker v Price: Winner would get March shot at Joshua

Hearn hopes to make Joshua v Kubrat Pulev and Parker v Price for November or December this year, possibly at UK venues in Cardiff or Manchester, but has a few hurdles to overcome before both fights are agreed.

Should the double-header make it across the finish line, a win for number one contender Parker or the rejuvenated Price would set up a March clash with Joshua for the IBF heavyweight title currently in the Londoner’s possession.

“Price is interested in the fight and Parker is interested in the fight but we need to talk terms with them. May the best man win if Price and Parker happens,” Hearn told Sky Sports.

“Whoever wins that fight, they get a shot at AJ. People are saying to me ‘Parker doesn’t have to earn his shot’ and quite right, he could sit and wait but he doesn’t – he wants to be in real fights and showcase himself to the UK public and that interests me.

“If Parker is the real deal, which he could well be, he will beat David Price – in my opinion. If he does, it’ll be a great fight and a great knockout and it makes the Joshua-Parker fight in March huge. That really interests me.

“But then what happens if Price does that? It immediately becomes a huge fight between him and AJ,” he added.

Price won a routine comeback in May, whilst Parker must come through Alexander Dimitrenko on October 1 to ensure he features on the Joshua undercard ahead of a massive title contest in the spring of 2017.
