British welterweight Amir Khan has stated his intention to fight three times next year beginning with a comeback bout in January.

The 29 year-old is bidding to return from a devastating loss to Canelo Alvarez in May and has been linked to switching codes to MMA in recent weeks.

Khan wants to follow-up a New Year contest, likely to be a warm-up, with a bigger test in May before rounding out the year with what will be a 38th pro bout in December.

Fights with Danny Garcia, UK rival Kell Brook and the winner/loser of Manny Pacquiao v Jessie Vargas are all possibilities as Khan heads back to his usual weight of 147 pounds.

The Bolton man had campaigned at 155 in a bid to derail Canelo’s middleweight title reign but was halted badly by a sixth round thunderbolt by the Mexican.
