Chris Eubank Sr. has told Billy Joe Saunders to agree a second fight with his son in order to turn the negativity surrounding him into a positive.
Saunders was criticised by some US boxing media and fans in the UK for turning down fights with either Gabriel Rosado or Willie Monroe Jr. on the Canelo v Smith undercard and is currently in limbo without a fight date.
As Chris Jr. is also on the lookout for a fight following the collapse of a world title shot at Gennady Golovkin, Eubank Sr. believes the pair need to get it on again for the sake of the public and their careers.
“He does need it (to fight Chris Jr.),” said Eubank Sr. “He needs to perform and not have the belt collect more dust. He’s nine months inactive.
“My average was five world championship fights a year. Billy Joe Saunders will fight only once this year. Who is to blame?
“The verdict of this country Bill, (is that) you can turn it around but it will not be easy. Manners, dignity and rematch Eubank Jr.
“He’s in a catch 22 or a conundrum. I think he would dodge out of spite if he could but there’s nowhere else to go,” he added.
