MGM 11/08/2016

MGM are delighted to announce the signing of Belfast’s Steven Ward. Steven’s amateur accomplishments include x3 Ulster titles, x5 Irish titles and a Commonwealth Games Silver Medal.

Steven competed at the 91kg Heavyweight limit as an amateur – and will be campaigning at Light-Heavyweight as a professional.

Steven is excited to be turning professional with MGM after such a lengthy and successful period as an amateur:

“I’m excited to be joining such a successful management team and I am looking forward to the road ahead and where they can take me, which I am confident will be a successful one. I fell out of love with the amateur sport after being in it for 13 years – and turning pro is something I always wanted to do.” He said.

Steven brings a high work-rate and believes he will make a seamless transition to the professional ranks, campaigning in the Light-Heavyweight division was a natural choice.

“It’s something that I think will suit my style as I have a good engine. I feel that coming down to Light-Heavyweight will suit me as it’s a weight which I feel great at and have always preferred boxing at”. He continued.

MGM’s Sam Kynoch is pleased to welcome Steven to the team and believes there’s a bright future ahead for the Belfast man.

“Steven’s amateur record speaks volumes as to the talent he has – and I think this will translate well into the professional ranks. Steven will debut after summer and I look forward to the journey ahead with another top Belfast boxer”. He said.
