The famous St Andrew’s Sporting Club have announced their first show of the new season which will take place on September 29th at Glasgow’s Raddison Hotel and promises to set the bar high in terms of a quality night’s entertainment for the season ahead.

The 43 year old mainstay of Scottish boxing is setting out to give not just the hardcore boxing fans, but the general sports fan, quality entertainment in and out in the ring and proving why they are the longest running Sporting Club in British boxing.

The evening of boxing which always includes excellent food and entertainment in luxurious surroundings in Glasgow City Centre; will see Port Glasgow based big punching Light Heavyweight Grant Quigley take a step up in class as he looks to secure titles in 2017. The powerful all action Quigley has notched up four wins from four contests with his last two coming by technical knockout and will be looking to add another explosive display to his record on September 29th.

Greenock native Sam Ball will also be taking a step up in class as he looks to forge a path to titles at the quickest possible route. The talented Welterweight was last seen producing an excellent third round knockout of previously undefeated Englishmen George Hennon on the undercard of Ricky Burns’ emphatic World title victory at the SSE Hydro last May. 21 year old Ball will be looking to continue his impressive start to his professional career on September 29th and will look to place himself in line for domestic titles in the next twelve months.

Topping the bill will be the exciting Dundee Welterweight ‘Iron’ Mike Towell who will contest a final eliminator for the British Welterweight title over twelve rounds. The undefeated Towell has notched up eight explosive knockouts from eleven wins with his last two coming in devastating fashion within the first two rounds. The ever improving power puncher will be looking to secure a dream opportunity at the British title which is currently held by the classy Londoner Bradley Skeete.

St Andrew’s Sporting Club figurehead Iain Wilson gave his take on the season opener for the St Andrew’s Sporting Club.

“We’re really excited for the season ahead at the St Andrew’s Sporting Club. We’re very pleased to see Mike Towell contesting a final eliminator for the British title. Mike always comes to fight and is guaranteed entertainment so we are delighted to have him on the opening show.”
