Brook critical of Canelo, expects to be as big as GGG – if not bigger
Kell Brook has criticised Canelo Alvarez for not facing Gennady Golovkin and says he wants the biggest test in order to follow Sugar Ray Robinson’s lead.
Legend Robinson successfully went through the weight classes his during his ring career and Brook says moving up two weight divisions to capture more titles is what he needs to do in order to cement a lasting legacy in the sport.
“Canelo gave up his title to avoid Golovkin. He’s running away from him and I’m running towards him. I want these fights. I want to show the world what I can do,” Brook told Sky Sports News HQ.
“You’re going to see an upset, believe you me. I’ve never lost and every single day I’m growing in confidence. I’m going to be as big as him, if not bigger.
“As crazy as it sounds, I’m looking forward to feeling his power. I just can’t wait to get in!
“We are making history in this fight. No one at 147 will step in with me, and if they are talking, they’re pricing themselves out with how much money they want. All these fighters are running away from me and I’m running towards these massive fights.
“Sugar Ray Robinson, my idol, he went up in weight and did it, so I want to show everybody that I’m not a one-trick pony.
“We’ll have the perfect game plan and we’re going to go in there and execute it in devastating fashion,” he added.
Brook, 30, is a massive underdog to rip away Golovkin’s 160 pound championships on September 10 in London but showed no signs of nerves at a recent press conference in New York.
