Cecilia Braekhus to headline first Norweigen boxing event since 1981

It was last week that an application from First Lady Promotions to arrange a bout in Norway was approved.

10,000 tickets to a show headlined by Cecilia Braekhus herself was released for sale the day after, and within 12 hours the first boxing event in Norway in over 30 years was sold out, despite the fact that an opponent is still to be announced.

Said Cecilia Braekhus: – I am thrilled and happy for this outcome. After several months of hard work we finally got the approval we needed. I am proud of the team I
have that has worked this through, and I am more excited than ever to perform in front of 10,000 Norwegian fans, said Braekhus.

– I have been dreaming of boxing in front of my home fans in my home country since I went pro nine years ago, and I am extremely motivated for this fight.

The Colombian-born Norwegian has boxed out of Berlin, Germany, her entire career, due to a Norwegian ban against professional boxing.
The ban was lifted three years ago, but this is the first application that has been approved. There are still strict regulations for all sports that includes knock-outs, as well as harsh demands for anti-doping routines.

Said Morten Andreassen, CEO, First Lady Promotions: – The Norwegian boxing fans has been waiting for this for over 30 years. On October 1, we will create a spectacular event and bring the very best of international boxing to the heart of Oslo, says Andreassen.

Braekhus holds all major belts (WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF, IBO) in the welterweight-division, and has already set a solid mark in the history of boxing by becoming the first female undisputed champion.

From August 1st she will gather her team, among them trainer Johnathon Banks, and start the preparations for the historical evening in Norway.
