In less than three weeks, Ronson Frank’s Uprising Promotions will return to action at the Five Star Banquet Hall in Long Island City, presenting another loaded night of boxing. The set date for the card is Friday, July 22nd, as Uprising Promotions honors the late legend Muhammad Ali with “Rumble Young Man Rumble.”
The main event of the evening will feature the return of Alicia “The Empress” Napoleon (6-0, 5 KOs), who faces 20-bout veteran Kita Watkins. The last time Napoleon competed on an Uprising Promotions show was in January, where she decisioned Szilvia Szabados in an action-packed bout that earned her the WBC Silver Female Super Welterweight Title. Currently the top-ranked female super welterweight in the country and number four in the world, Napoleon is known for packing the house and always bringing an entertaining fight.
Also slated to participate in separate bouts are featherweight Angel Luna (11-2-1, 6 KOs) and lightweight Jude Franklin (3-0, 3 KOs), two locally based fighters who are well known to boxing fans who follow the Uprising Promotions platform. Luna is back at the Five Star Banquet Hall after three consecutive contests against prospects Tevin Farmer, Jose Lopez and Christopher Diaz, while Franklin is a competitor who has dealt with each of his three professional bouts inside the distance.
Queens middleweight Villi Bello (4-1-1, 1 KO) is set to meet undefeated Newark resident Anthony Jones (4-0-1, 1 KO) on July 22nd, competing on his fourth overall Uprising Promotions card. Another action-packed bout on the docket pits lightweight Italy Martinez against Victor Vazquez, two fighters who are known to always bring non-stop entertainment.
Returning to action on this card will be undefeated New York welterweight Maxito Sainvil (3-0-1, 1 KO), who will be fighting on his third Uprising Promotions docket. Sainvil will be facing gritty opposition in 12-bout veteran Ray Velez, who has never fought an opponent with more than one loss throughout his professional career.
Additional bouts planned for the July 22nd show include an encounter between two young featherweights in Ariel Lopez and Wuesi Johnson, while a women’s contest between undefeated lightweight Betha Aracil (2-0, 2 KOs) and converted mixed martial artist Gabby Holloway is on the schedule as well. Undefeated super bantamweight Shawn Simpson (1-0, 1 KO) is also slated for action on the show against an opponent to be named.
