Tom Stokes bidding for 7-0 record on July 9 in Walsall

UKO Boxing 27/06/2016

West Bromwich prospect, Tom Stokes is hoping to be in seventh heaven when he takes on Lewis Van Poetsch at Walsall Town Hall later this month.

The 21-year-old has recorded six victories since turning professional three years ago and is fully expecting to make it seven when he clashes with Van Poetsch on Black Country Boxing’s Summer Scorcher show at Walsall Town Hall on Saturday, 9th July.

“I’m feeling fit and focused,” he told www.uko-boxing.com. “I need to fight more regularly now and build my record.

“I had a fight in March, against Luke Allon, and I felt strong. There’s plenty of room for improvement but I know there’s more to come.

“In my six pro fights to date, I’ve fought a range of opponents from bigger guys like Kieron Gray to tricky fighters like Matt Seawright. I’m learning the game all the time and I’m gaining confidence with each fight.

“I know Van Poetsch from the circuit. He’s a tough, durable and game lad. He’ll come for a fight and that’s what I like. It’s a good chance to showcase my power and skill. I’m confident of getting a seventh win.”

Stablemate Lennox Clarke tops the bill, sponsored by Grosvenor Casino Walsall. The unbeaten super middleweight takes on Nottingham’s Dean Gillen over eight rounds.

Ludlow’s Craig Morris, who picked up the British Challenge Super Welterweight Title in his hometown back in March, will be hoping to make six wins on the spin when he steps in with Lithuania’s Arvydas Trizno

Stafford’s former Midlands Area Welterweight Champion, Rob Hunt, is also in action.

Birmingham super welterweight, Jordan Clayton, will be looking to make it a hat-trick of professional wins against Swansea’s Matthew Ashmole.

Tipton super featherweight, Lee Glover, will be looking to return to winning ways after unsuccessful English and Midlands Title challenges in his last two outings against Sunderland’s Jordan Ellison.

Coventry welterweight, James ‘The Full Monty’ Montgomery takes on Sheffield’s
Liam Wright and West Bromwich super featherweight, Jack Summers, takes on Evesham’s Brett Fidoe.

Wolverhampton cruiserweight, Joshua Burke and West Bromwich super welterweight, Luke Heron (Walker), complete the card against yet to be named opponents.

Tickets are priced at £30 (general admission) and £60 (VIP Ringside), and can be purchased by calling 0845 111 2900 or directly from any boxer on the bill.
