Below is a short video of IBF mandatory number one challenger Joseph Parker talking in the wake of Anthony Joshua’s ringside interview in the O2 Arena in London.
Joshua made a voluntary defence of his IBF Heavyweight Title against American, Dominic Breazeale. The Brit won via knockout in the seventh round.
Anthony Joshua on his next opponent:
“I was initially looking at Fury, but his ankle has postponed things, so now I will look at other opponents, like Parker. I had initially wanted Fury in the winter, but not now”.
Parker is the mandatory challenger to Joshua’s title with the fight expected to take place before January 2017.
Parker is currently ranked IBF#1, WBO#1, WBC#4 and WBA#8 after his unanimous points victory over 12 rounds against the rugged Carlos Takam in Auckland last month. Ring Magazine ranks Joshua at #5 and Parker at #7 in its newly updated world rankings.
Joseph Parker faces WBA#12 Solomon Haumono at Horncastle Arena, in Christchurch, on July 21.
Joseph Parker on Anthony Joshua’s victory over Dominic Breazeale:
“I thought it was a great fight for his first defence, he controlled the fight, Breazeale came in strong, prepared, but the better man won on the day. I’m glad he called me out because I’m ready, so whenever they’re ready, let’s get it on.”
