Xolisani Ndongeni set for US debut on Showtime

His US debut will be on the popular ShoBox network and will open the IBO champion up to a vast new audience. A shortlist of challengers is being considered with an announcement shortly.

“It’s definitely a case of you only have one opportunity to make a good first impression,” said promoter Rodney Berman, who knows better than most the world that potentially awaits “Nomeva” – if he dazzles.

The youngster has a perfect 21-0 record, but he hasn’t faced any of the division’s big guns. That day is looming and the depth of Ndongeni’s talent will be sorely tested.

Meanwhile, Berman says that in the aftermath of “Night of Reckoning”, cruiserweight Micki Nielsen’s camp has insisted on a neutral referee and two neutral judges for the “Super Four” final against Kevin Lerena in October.

The Dane can have no complaints with the scoring last weekend, but he is leaving nothing to chance. He desperately wants to protect his unbeaten 22-0 record and presumably knows that Lerena will bring it hard.
