July 1 LA Fight Club to features LAPD v NYPD fundraiser

The classic West Coast versus East Coast showdown spectacle will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation at downtown Los Angeles’ historic Belasco Theater. The event will also feature three professional Golden Boy fights as part of the televised portion of the night.

Headlining the televised card, undefeated bantamweight Oscar “Jaguar” Negrete (14-0, 5 KOs) of Los Angeles by way of Columbia will take on Jose “Flash” Bustos (11-6-3, 7 KOs) of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico in a 10-round televised fight airing live nationally on Estrella TV’s Boxeo Estelar. Also part of the live telecast, undefeated super bantamweight prospect Emilio Sanchez (12-0, 9 KOs) of Los Angeles is set to face Hugo “Olímpico” Partida (21-7-2, 9 KOs) of Mexico City in an eight-round co-main event. Miami’s Niko “Baby Face” Valdes (1-0, 1 KO) will open the televised portion in a four-round super middleweight match against a soon-to-be-named opponent. In honor of the evening’s theme, Valdes will also donate his entire purse to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

“Golden Boy has always been a big supporter of our brave men and women in law enforcement that protect our communities and I’m proud to have Los Angeles and New York area officers showcase their boxing talents for a great cause on July 1 at LA FIGHT CLUB,” said Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “The fact that these Los Angeles and New York area officers have also chosen to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation with these fights is admirable and something Golden Boy Promotions is very proud to be part of as it falls in line with my goal of continually giving back to the community.”

In the non-televised action airing live on RingTVLive.com, Daniel Rosales of the LAPD’s Southwest Division will be participating in a three-round middleweight match against NYPD officer Nelson Cordero. Carlos Rosas of the LAPD’s Newton Division will also be fighting a three-round middleweight fight against an opponent soon to be announced.

In the light heavyweight division, Brian Petrella of the Pasadena Police Department (PPD) will be going for a scheduled three rounds against NYPD officer Alex Cintron. Coming from the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) division of the Santa Monica Fire Department (SMFD), Dustin Rodriguez will take on NYPD officer Billy Ramirez in a scheduled three round middleweight fight.

LAPD’s own Eriverto Montano will go up against NYPD’s Jonathan Alvarez in a three round middleweight match. Dedrie Fonseca from LAPD’s Northeast Division is scheduled for a three-round super bantamweight fight. Finally opening up the night, LAPD officer John Byun will face Dennis Burgess from the NYPD in a three round light heavyweight brawl. Opponents will be announced shortly.
