Maynard Communications added to Fury v Klitschko 2 PR team

The fight is the most significant to be staged in the UK in recent years and the appearance of Klitschko, the legendary Former Unified World Heavyweight Champion, in the UK is the biggest arrival of an international heavyweight figure since Mike Tyson’s European debut in January 2000.

Fury, the reigning WBO, WBA Super, IBO, Ring Magazine and linear World Champion, turned the heavyweight division upset down with his sensational win last November when he travelled to Germany as the underdog and upset the odds to take the titles from the long reigning Ukrainian with a unanimous points decision.

Mick Hennessy CEO of Hennessy Sports and co-promoter K2 Promotions are promoting the super-fight titled ‘Repeat or Revenge’, with TV subscription channel BoxNation broadcasting the event exclusively live in the UK.

Maynard Communications will provide full event media support to the Hennessy Sports PR team in the lead up and on the day of the event.

Richard Maynard, owner of Maynard Communications, previously worked for 17 years under renown Hall of Fame Promoter Frank Warren until his departure last month to create the specialist boxing and sports PR agency, said, “I’m thrilled that Mick Hennessy has chosen to use the services of Maynard Communications for what is the biggest heavyweight fight in this country, certainly in the last 30 years. I’m looking forward to working on this prestigious, defining and historic sporting event and driving great results to my client Hennessy Sports.”

Hennessy, the distinguished promoter of numerous championship events and the developer of countless champions including two of the most prominent British boxers in the last decade: Fury and Carl Froch, said of the appointment: “Richard’s reputation and expertise in the boxing media is second to none and there was no doubt in my mind that I would want him to assist with the extensive media requirements of an event of this magnitude. It’s the biggest heavyweight world title fight to be staged in this country in decades and certainly one of the most significant sports events in recent years.”
