WBC sanction Mamani for Zlaticanin bout, approve weight

The Bolivian was given just ten days notice for the clash, taking place in Verona, New York next week, but has been fully approved to contest the title.

A statement sent to WBN over the weekend stated the following on the back of Jorge Linares being made Champion in Recess:

The World Boxing Council confirms sanctioning of the WBC lightweight championship between Dejan Zlaticanin vs. Franklin Mamani this coming Saturday June 11.

Number 2 contender Emiliano Marsili unfortunately felt ill, and for this reason could not fight as scheduled.

The WBC has accepted the next highest available contender Franklin Mamani to replace Marsili. Mamani was scheduled to fight anyway and has submitted his weight, which is within the range to be fully medically cleared in order to fight.

Zlaticanin v Mamani provides support to the double-header at The Turning Stone between Ruslan Provonikov and John Molina Jr, plus former world champion and undefeated super welterweight Demetrius Andrade squaring off against Wille Nelson.
