Glasgow’s Stefan Sanderson takes a big step up in class on June 11th as he takes on the battle-tested Craig Kelly for the British Challenge Super Lightweight belt at Glasgow’s Marriott Hotel.
Sanderson is a product of the Dennistoun McNair gym in Glasgow which has been producing elite amateurs and quality professionals for years.
The ambitious Glasweigan has followed former two weight World Champion Paul Weir to Dubai where the pair are currently preparing for the test of the no nonsense native of Paisley, Kelly.
Sanderson gave his take on his upcoming contest on June 11th and his amateur accomplishments at Dennistoun McNair.
“Training is going really well out in Dubai with Paul, he’s been pushing me very hard and to be honest I have never experienced a training camp like this in the heat and humid air.
“This hard camp has got me prepared for the fight. I feel that this along with my amateur experience at Dennistoun will prove the deciding factors on June 11th.
“I only lost once as an amateur in three years and I don’t intend on losing again.”
This fight is undoubtedly a step for the now Dubai based Sanderson however it’s a fight Sanderson and his team are confident that they can come out victorious in.
“I know it’s a big step up for my second professional fight. I spoke to Jamie Cunningham and Paul Weir about taking the fight and they were both confident in me as long as I train hard and get the right sparring for the fight.”
Sanderson’s opponent Kelly is known to many Scottish boxing fans as being a warrior. He was in one of the most gruelling hard fought contest I personally had witnessed live last time out against Ally Black on Willie Limond’s last Lock Stock Promotions show. Sanderson gave his thought’s on his Paisley based opponent.
“I don’t really know Craig to be honest, I’ve passed by him once or twice at my pro debut. We’ve never spoke to each other but I’ve heard he’s a very nice an humble lad so it will be a respectful contest. I’ve been watching his fights with my coach and we are working on a game plan for him. He’s a tough boy and can take a dig so let’s see how the night goes but me and my coach are confident that I can come out off this fight on the upper hand. It will be a great fight for anyone in attendance.”
Craig Kelly vs Stefan Sanderson is top of the bill on Lock Stock Promotions June 11th card at the Marriott Hotel which see’s Scott Allan face Scott McCormanck for the Scottish Bantamweight title in what is set to be an explosive fight. Joining the two title fights are top prospects Craig Macintyre and Kieran Smith in their own respective contests.
Tickets for this show are priced at £50 which includes a buffet or £100 which includes a four course meal. Tickets are available directly from all the boxers on the bill by contacting them or @LockStockPromo through social media.
