Jermell Charlo reveals Canelo Alvarez talks for 2016/17

New World Boxing Council super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo, who TKO’d John Jackson at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, now has his sights firmly set on Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

Twin Jermell is undefeated. His record is 28-0, with 13 KO’s. In a conference call to the WBC weekly press conference, Jermell said: “I’ve always wanted to fight Canelo, and it would be great if it happens.

“We’ve been talking with Golden Boy. It could happen this year or the beginning of next year. Canelo is young, strong and improving all of the time.”

Jermell said he’d apologized to John Jackson’s father, the great Julian “Hawk” Jackson for pre-contest comments which he regrets.

Now he’s champion Jermell says: “Everyone wants to take my belt, so I must be sharper and better!”
