Argentinean Victor Emilio Ramirez (22-2-1, 17 KO) and the Russian Denis Lebedev (28-2, 21 KO) successfully made weight on the scale on Friday, leaving everything ready for the IBF-WBA cruiserweight unification to be played out tomorrow at the Khodynka Ice Palace in Moscow and live TyCSports.
Ramirez, owner of the IBF belt, will have to Charles “Snoopy” Martinetti in his corner and came in at 198.6 lbs. Meanwhile, the home fighter and regular WBA champion, who will be accompanied by legendary trainer Freddie Roach, weighed 198,75. The limit for the category is set at 200.
The referee of the contest will be veteran Steve Smoger of the United States, whilst the shortlist of judges will be composed of Stefano Chariot (Italy), Don Trella (United States) and Craig Smith (Canada).
With only hours to the crucial clash, Ramirez is in optimal condition to give a great battle in Moscow. It will be the second defense of his reign obtained in the second half of 2015 after the retirement of former monarch Yoan Pablo Hernandez, and that ultimately endorsed on October 2 with victory over the British Ovill McKenzie.
As for Lebedev, it is noteworthy that since November 2011, he has been undisputed king with the WBA, first with the interim belt and later with his promotion to regular. In 2013, he lost his status to the Panamanian Guillermo Jones but the WBA returned his belt due to doping by Jones.
In his last three defenses, he pulled off wins over the Polish Pawel Kolodziej (KO2), the Congolese Youri Kalenga (UD) and the Nigerian Lateef Kayode.
