28 year old Light-Heavyweight Joel McIntyre (13-1) is the latest title chasing prospect to sign with Steve Goodwin on a three year contract.
Portsmouth’s McIntyre has become disillusioned with the lack of opportunities afforded to him and has decided to change management and sign with Goodwin.
“This is a proper professional outfit” said McIntyre “ Steve gets his fighters title opportunities as you can see looking at his list of champions. Whilst I was waiting for an area title shot Steve moved in and secured it for his fighter and I was left in the cold. That was enough for me. I decided that’s the man I want to be with.”
McIntyre’s only career defeat came at the hands of Miles Shinkwin (July 2014) in a close Southern Area title bout where Shinkwin triumphed 97-95.
After a hastily arranged meeting last week, McIntyre met with Goodwin and discussed plans going forward. “I am now truly excited” said Joel “We have a plan, a strategy and for the first time in my career I know exactly where I am going.”
McIntyre will make his Goodwin box on 9th July at the “Pompey Explosion” card in his home town of Portsmouth. McIntyre who has only been in action once in the last 18 months will compete for the British Challenge Belt against a yet to be confirmed opponent.
Goodwin was delighted “We are delighted to welcome another potential elite fighter to the Goodwin team. After meeting Joel I know he is as hungry as we are for success and I believe we will achieve massive things together.”
