Floyd Mayweather Sr. has added more fuel to the fire that his son Floyd Jr. is coming out of retirement to possibly face UFC star Conor McGregor.
Until now, rumours had been laughed off, although the elder Mayweather – who trains the current pound for pound king, confirmed talks about a possible fight this year.
On coming out of retirement for a potential fight at the newly-built T-Mobile Arena, Floyd Sr. began by telling ES News: “I’m pretty sure he’ll fight here when the time is right,” before addressing rumours of a fight with McGregor.
“He had told me the other day that he’s going to take another fight. He told me it’s some kind of MMA fighter. We don’t care about that man, (McGregor) though, he’ll beat the hell out of that man.”
When pushed by ES News presenter Helen Yee to confirm the McGregor fight, Mayweather Sr said: “I thought that’s what he’s going to do.
“I don’t know when, but I’m pretty sure it’s gonna come around real soon and it won’t be too long.
“Floyd has to get that work habit back into him. He’s getting right back in the game and will be right back to where he used to be. Conor MMA is going get the hell beat out of him,” he added.
