Exclusive: Dereck Chisora update after weigh-in bottle incident

Former world heavyweight title challenger Dereck Chisora is focused on his fight with Kubrat Pulev following an outburst at the weigh-in on Friday.

Chisora was livid and looked under great stress following the scaling in Hamburg after being struck by a plastic bottle at the head-to-head. The Brit was lining up for his European championship clash with Bulgarian Pulev.

‘Del Boy’ was videoed chasing down the apparent culprit and shouting at photographers in clips that went viral over the internet within minutes of taking place.

Amidst fears for his pre-fight state of mind, Sauerland has confirmed to WBN that the matter has been dealt with. They added that Chisora is more than happy to fulfill his fight obligation.

“It was quite hard to keep up with. But the person who hit him with a bottle was removed from the building,” media officer Edward Roff of Team Sauerland told World Boxing News.

“I met Dereck shortly afterward. He seemed relaxed and focused on the fight with Kubrat Pulev on Saturday night.”

It’s not the first time Chisora has courted controversy following previous high-profile incidents with Vitali Klitschko and David Haye, among others.

The Londoner hopes a victory over Pulev leads to a future fight with compatriot Anthony Joshua. He cannot afford any slip-ups at the Barclaycard Arena this weekend.
