Floyd Mayweather Jr spoke to Showtime on Saturday night as the pound for pound king went through his promotional duties for the Badou Jack v Lucian Bute bill.
Speaking to Jim Gray, the 39 year-old claimed to be, ‘happy to be on the other side’ but outlined that communications with CBS / Showtime had been ongoing.
A possible fight with Danny Garcia was the only welterweight contest mentioned in the conversation as Mayweather dismissed any chance of a catchweight clash with middleweight king Gennady Golovkin.
‘Crazy numbers’ are being laid in front of Mayweather, according to the five-weight world champion, who has never been one to look a gift horse in the mouth.
This fall marks the 20-year anniversary of Mayweather’s pro debut, along with what would be a potentially record-breaking 50th win, so all the signs are pointing towards a short-lived retirement for ‘Money’ who last fought when defeating Andre Berto in a low-key affair last September.
