WBA heavyweight champion Lucas Browne sat down with T2T Boxing this weekend in another media offensive towards his March failed drugs test.
The Australian, who is undefeated as a professional, tested positive for a banned substance in the wake of his world title victory over Ruslan Chagaev last month and is awaiting the result of his ‘B’ sample before being stripped of the belt.
Speaking candidly in an eye-opening interview, Browne came out fighting and reasserted his belief that the whole thing is a conspiracy by Chagaev’s handlers.
Browne is adamant that he ingested something from the time when he landed in Grozy and was originally tested clean, to the period after the fight when he was again pulled in by WADA testers.
As Brown himself has stated, he doesn’t see the ‘B’ sample coming back different to the first results, although has vowed to fight to clear his name once the WBA take away his belt.
The only way Browne will be able to retain his championship is if that ‘B’ sample comes back clean, which historically is highly unlikely to be the case.
