Zach Parker aims to continue steady progress on Saturday night

UKO Boxing 20/04/2016

Unbeaten super middleweight, Zach Parker, can’t wait to box in front of his one of his idols this weekend. The 21 year-old from Swadlincote takes on Lithaunian Vaidas Balciauskas at The Deco, Northampton, on Saturday knowing that his childhood hero, Ricky Hatton, will be in the crowd.

Parker features on the Hatton Promotions and Black Country Promotions co-promotion and is determined to show the Hitman what he is capable of.

“Ricky Hatton is one of my idols,” admitted Parker to www.uko-boxing.com. “ He was at his best when I was growing up and I watched a lot of his fights. He was a great fighter and it will be amazing to fight in front of him this weekend.

“I want to put on a show for him and everyone in attendance.”

Parker has impressed since turning professional in July 2015. Since then, he has recorded four straight victories, including three KO’s. After a solid camp, the former amateur star is in confident mood ahead of his clash with Balciauskas this weekend.

“My training has gone fantastic,” he added. “I’m looking forward to getting another win. It’s going to be a good show with some good prospects on. Balciauskas has got a record of 3 wins and 7 losses and I hope he puts up a good fight.

“I’ve got full confidence that I’ll come out with the win. I’m never out of training, I’m dedicated to the sport and I’m ready to really push on this year.”

Pauly Upton takes on Terry Maughan for the Irish Super Welterweight Title at the top of the bill. Also in action are Market Harborough’s unbeaten Reuben Arrowsmith, Northampton’s popular Jamie Spence, Rowley Regis’s Jason Welborn and local debutant Drew Brown.

Tickets are priced at £30, £35 and £40 and can be purchased from any fighter on the bill or by calling 07718 324102.
