Hot prospect George Hennon (2-0) has had his next opponent confirmed as Bulgarian Danny Donchev (6-85-2) for his third pro fight at York Hall on April 29th on a Dennis Hobson Promotions show, titled ‘Resurrection’.
The 21-year-old welterweight from Kent will face the Micky Helliet managed fighter from Rosehill, London in what will be Hennon’s first appearance at the historic East End venue.
The unbeaten 147-pounder, trained by Johnny Greaves and managed by Carl Greaves, will enter into his third professional bout on the first show that promoter Dennis Hobson has ever planned in the country’s capital in a co-promotion with Danny Maclaren.
Hennon said of his forthcoming foe, “I don’t know too much about him, to be honest, just that he is a tough, durable opponent that won’t stop coming forward, which is great for me.”
The 40-year-old from Pleven has experienced 16 years punching for pay, debuting way back in 2000 in Spain but didn’t fight at the York Hall until 10 years later against Adam Battle. He has since appeared at the E2 postal code a further 10 times.
Bizarrely, the soon to be warring pair share a similarity in that both of their previous wins came against the same opponent – Ali Wyatt.
From Snodland in Kent, Hennon has an unconventional background as a former English and European kick-boxing champion, making the switch to boxing aged 20, following a chance encounter with Johnny Greaves.
Guided by Greaves from their Peacock Gym base, Hennon has so far overcome both opponents Ali Wyatt (4-28-2) and Matt Seawright (5-115-5) on points back in 2015.
The youngster plans to extend his winning run to three in three on the last weekend in April, confidently stating, “I’m fully confident in my own ability that I will become 3-0 on April 29th.”
The talent-packed show also includes fellow undefeated welterweights Johnny Coyle (12-0-1), Louis Adolphe (4-0), and Kian Thomas (5-0), as well as top bantamweight talent Brad Watson (10-1), featherweight Craig Whyatt (7-3), light-heavyweight Kirk Garvey (3-0), super-middleweight Mohammed Mustapha (1-0-1), lightweight ID Hill (3-0), and exciting middleweight Tey-Lynn Jones (1-0).
