WBA to act following Felix Sturm ‘B’ sample results in mid-May
The World Boxing Association will make a decision regarding the doping case of Felix Sturm after the B test results are known. After this happens, the World Championships Committee will act in accordance with regulations.
The current champion of the super middleweight division tested positive for anabolic steroids, specifically Hydro-XY Stanozolol, after obtaining his belt in defeating Russian Fedor Chudinov on 20 February.
The World Boxing Association and World Championships Committee hope this is a misunderstanding. However, no action will be taken until we know the result of the analysis of the B test.
Sturm’s team decided to exercise the right to open this test and hope the results are known in mid-May.
In other news, the California Boxing Commission appointed officials who will perform this Saturday at the Gennady Golovkin v Dominic Wade confrontation at the Forum in Inglewood.
“GGG” will defend his title for the sixteenth time.
The third man in the ring will be the American Jack Reiss. While Pat Russell, Steve Morrow and Adelaide Byrd, all of the US will be in charge of the cards.
Golovkin, the unbeaten WBA champion, has a record 34 wins with 31 knockouts. He also will defend his IBF and interim WBC belts.
Opponent Dominic Wade is also unbeaten and has won 18 fights with 12 stoppages.
