Three-time world champion Fernando Montiel is very sure he will defeat Jorge Lara when they meet April 30 at the StubHub Center in Los Angeles, California.

The fight will be shown on Fox Sports as part of the Premier Boxing Champions Series.

Montiel is in the last stage of his brilliant career as a professional boxer and will have a final chance at a world title if he can beat Lara. The fight against unbeaten Lara (27-0-2, 19 KOs) will be ten rounds in the featherweight division

“We are training as usual and we are in the final stretch of training this week. We will close very strong sparring sessions as we’ve been training since January,” said Montiel.

Originally, Fernando Montiel was due to face the triple world champion Abner Mares on 12 March, but the fight was called off 15 days before as the Keith Thurman v Shawn Porter fight was postponed.

“The delay will not affect me and the fight with Jorge Lara was presented to me with much to gain. I am more certain than ever that will leave as the winner. Lara is a great fighter but my retirement from boxing is very close and need to take this step to be remembered as one of the best Mexican fighters.

In the main event, “Vicious” Victor Ortiz will face former world champion Andre Berto in a rematch.

Television coverage will begin at 8 pm (Eastern) 5 pm (Pacific) and will also include a battle of light heavyweight between Edwin “La Bomba” Rodriguez (28-1, 19 KOs) and Thomas “Top Dog” Williams Jr. (19-1, 13 KOs) in a scheduled 10 – round duel.

Tickets for the function promoted by TGB Promotions, are priced at $ 209, $ 105, $ 53 and $ 27, plus taxes and service costs and can be purchased by visiting AXS.com .
