Adrien Broner arrested, processed and released in Ohio

Broner reported to the Cincinnati force as promised on Monday morning and was duly arrested on an assault / armed robbery charge for an incident at a bowling alley in January 2016.

The 26 year-old is alleged to have robbed and beaten a man who won a substantial amount of cash in bowling bets from Broner and the fighter could now face prison time if found guilty.

At the beginning of the weekend, Broner was defeating Theophane at the DC Armory via ninth round stoppage after losing his world super lightweight title on the scales.

‘The Problem’ weighed 140.4lbs last Thursday but didn’t even bother trying to lose the four ounces necessary in order to keep his World Boxing Association belt.

A massive pre-fight favourite, Broner largely overpowered his British opponent to record a 32 career victory but will need to focus on his legal troubles before contemplating his next move.

It’s not the first time Broner has hit the headlines for the wrong reasons, and despite offers of help from former friend and pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr, the outspoken puncher has failed to clean up his act.
