Former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs interrupted the official press conference as David Haye announced his second comeback opponent on Wednesday.
The outspoken 44 year-old, in typical fashion, stormed the London venue to ask why Haye chose to fight unknown Kosovan Arnold Gjergjaj on May 21.
Briggs has been in the UK for the past week hunting down Haye to confront him over a possible fight, although the ex-WBA title holder had proven elusive until now.
‘The Cannon’ was given some hope though as Haye, 35, offered the American a spot on the undercard this spring, but only if the veteran fighter passes a brain scan.
Haye’s argument was that Briggs took such a beating from Vitali Klitschko in 2010 that he would need medical tests to ensure any bout could go ahead.
Since that loss to the elder Klitschko, Briggs has won eight straight contests, six in the first round, although hasn’t faced any real name opponents.
