Dennis Hobson’s April 2 Magna Centre show postponed

Dennis Hobson Promotions regret to announce the planned promotion at Rotherham’s Magna Centre on April 2, which was to be headlined by a trio of top Sheffield fighters, has been postponed.

The show was to feature Muheeb Fazeldin’s Commonwealth title fight against South Africa’s Klaas Mboyane, Liam Cameron and Leicester’s Jahmaine Smyle boxing for the English super-middleweight belt, as well as Sam Sheedy in a Commonwealth middleweight eliminator versus Belfast’s Alfredo Meli. However, due to boxer injuries the show will now be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced soon.

“We’ve got three great fights on the card featuring Fazeldin, Sheedy and Cameron but unusually, because sometimes you might get one headline fight cancelled, all three fell through. Both Meli and Smyle pulled out with bad backs, and Klaas Mboyane has possibly got himself involved in some kind of world title eliminator, so we’re still trying to make that fight, or there might be an opportunity to match Fazeldin with Jason Cunningham for that title.

“Rather than go ahead though with the show, which we could have done as we had some decent kids on the undercard, I really like to put at least one title fight on at the top of the bill. And with not having that, or a final eliminator, I’d rather reschedule. We’ve got a meeting this week where we’ll decide a new date, probably towards the end of April. So, the show will still go ahead, just at a later date., which we’ll confirm soon. I’m disappointed about it but that’s boxing, and these things do happen.”
