Nielsen v Larghetti final press conference round-up

Nielsen puts his WBC belt on the line against the former World title challenger, who is ranked number three in the World by the WBA, and will pose a serious threat to the Danish southpaw’s undefeated record and World title aspirations.

‘’This is the biggest fight of my career,’’ said Nielsen. ‘’A victory will prove I’m ready to face the very best in division. There is a lot at stake for me and my desire to win is stronger than ever. Larghetti is a good fighter with an impressive record, but he does not scare me. I’ve trained hard and I’m confident I will win.’’

Larghetti believes he will be the man to inflict Nielsen’s first defeat and has vowed not to leave Denmark without the WBC International title.

‘’Nielsen is a young, strong fighter,’’ said Larghetti. ‘’It will be a good fight, but I have come here to win, and I will not be going home without the title. My dream has always been to become World Champion, and if I win this fight, I will move closer to another shot at the World title. That gives me all the motivation I need.’’

Promoter Nisse Sauerland admits he has taken a risk by matching his young star against the tough Italian, but believes Nielsen is ready to step up and prove himself at World level.

‘’This is going to be tough test for Micki,’’ said Sauerland. ‘’Larghetti is a quality opponent. He went the distance with Marco Huck and caused him a lot of problems. It’s a risky fight, but we believe Micki is ready. He has the potential to become one of the best fighters in the division, and on Saturday night, he has the chance to prove it.’’
