George Groves open to future UFC move
Super-middleweight boxer George Groves has admitted that a move to UFC is appealing to him once his career in boxing comes to an end.
The 27 year-old three-time world title challenger, who is a certified UFC fan, was speaking at the launch of EA SPORTS new video game UFC 2 – outlining that any code switch would have to have the right preparation.
“I certainly wouldn’t rule it out,” Groves told the London Evening Standard when asked about a move to UFC.
“I’d love to have a crack at it, but I’d want to give myself a proper go. I’d want to give a good account of myself. It wouldn’t be a quick thing.
“I’d dedicate some time to getting ready before I had my first fight.”
Groves has lost twice to Carl Froch and once to Badou Jack in his efforts to become a world champion in his first choice sport and is currently being linked to a UK clash with Martin Murray in the summer.
Signed to Sauerland, ‘The Saint’ recently Andrea Di Luisa in five rounds last January to put himself back into to contention at home and abroad, with an announcement on his next ring outing expected soon.
EA SPORTS UFC 2 is out now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Find out more at easports.com/uk/ufc
