Will Young to defend Aussie belt against Ben Warburton on May 13

As expected it took less than 24 hours for both men to sign on the dotted line and make it official.

“We have Will Young’s signature and we have Ben Warburton’s signature so it’s a done deal,” Promoter Brendon Smith confirmed.

“I would like to thank Ben Warburton and his camp, they’ve been great to deal with.

“They assured me I would have a signed contract by Monday and that’s exactly what happened.

“We now have a great title fight confirmed for TGW & Smithy bring the big fights 13.

“Will Young as the champion vs Ben Warburton as the challenger.

“It’s extra special as this will be Will Young’s last professional bout and Ben Warburton is very determined to spoil the party.”

It’s a fight that has been brewing for some months with Ben Warburton calling out the Australian Champion on numerous times via social media.

Now he has wish.

“It’s no secret how much the Australian title means to me,” Will Young said. “I won’t give it up lightly.

“That’s exactly what Ben Warburton wants to do – he wants my title.

“I don’t plan on letting that happen.

“Ben’s been calling my name so he’s talked the talk, lets see if he can walk the walk.”

On facebook Warburton said:

“I have no problem coming into your home town and ripping your Australian title away from you in front of your fans,” Warburton said.

“I’m coming to knock you out and toast my Tooheys New with my whole team.”

It’s the first block buster fight for the May 13 card TGW & Smithy Bring the Big Fights 13.

The fight card will be held at Rumours International.

More information on the card will be released in coming weeks.
