The fight between Farrag and Guerfi is pencilled in to take place on June 4 at the Echo Arena and joins the recently confirmed Jazza Dickens v Abigail Medina EBU clash on the same Merseyside bill.
Farrag claimed the title when the 28 year-old travelled to Belgium last October to dethrone Stephane Jamoye and prove his abilities as a top contender on the world 118 pound scene.
The only loss on Farrag’s impressive 15-fight C.V came against current IBF title holder Lee Haskins in a three-round Prizefighter bout way back in 2011 and a rematch could well be in the offing at some point in the future.
Prior to the Guerfi match-up, Farrag warms up this Saturday night at the very same arena against young Bulgarian also-ran Stefan Slavchev.
Opponent Guerfi, 29, held the coveted blue belt briefly by defeating the same foe as Farrag when ousting Jamoye by a majority decision, once again in Belgium.
Guerfi would lose the championship in his very first defence when knocked out by Zhanat Zhakiyanov and will begin as a clear underdog to overcome Farrag.
