Dennis Ceylan undergoes successful hand surgery, eyes June return

The Danish featherweight, who underwent an operation to remove scar tissue from his left hand, says doctors were pleased with the results and he is now looking forward to getting back in the gym to begin preparing for his ring return.

‘’The operation went really well,’’ says Ceylan. ‘’The doctors were happy with the results, and they’ve said I should be ready to fight again by June.

‘’My hand is in plaster for another week and then it will be six weeks before I can start punching again. It’s tough because as a fighter you don’t want to be out of the gym, but I know I need to rest my hand, and once its recovered, I’ll be coming back stronger and hitting harder than ever.’’

Although unable to fight, the Aarhus-boxer will be at the Albertslund Musikteatret for the Nordic Fight Night on March 19 offering his expert analysis as part of TV3 Sport’s coverage of the event.

‘’I’m looking forward to being there are watching the guys fight,’’ says Ceylan

‘’I was really happy to hear Rashid Kassem had signed a new contract and it will be good to see him back in the ring. He has a lot of potential and can definitely become a European and World Champion.

‘’Micki Nielsen is also in a tough fight. Micki is a strong guy who seems to be getting better and better with every fight. He has a big future ahead of him so it will be interesting to see how he copes with a big name like Mirko Larghetti.’’

Tickets for the Nordic Fight Night on March 19 at the Albetslund Musikteatret featuring Micki Nielsen’s WBC International Cruiserweight title defence against former World title challenger Mirko Larghetti are available online via www.billetlugen.dk or by calling (+45) 70 263 267.
