Xolisani Ndongeni slated for April 1 return

The unbeaten boxer (20-0) will fight on a Sijuta Promotions bill in East London where he ranks as one of the biggest local stars.

Nomeva’s last fight was in November when he stopped wily Jasper Seroka.

“It’s like a rock concert mpantsula-style when he fights down there,” said trainer Colin Nathan. “When we fought Escalada at the Orient Theatre in September, it was wild. It was one of the most special experiences of my life.”

Nathan intends keeping the 25-year-old busy, with another fight planned for June. He doesn’t know who is being lined up for April, adding that it may even be a non-title fight.

“I’m happy. Nomeva is always in the gym, he always stays in shape, so there are no drastic weight fluctuations to worry about.”

Describing the boxer as a work in progress, Nathan explained that he was constantly working on polishing his pupil. “When he finds his range, he’s untouchable. But against Jasper he took some stupid punches. Obviously that must chance. He has a great jab, one of the best, and we’re working on amplifying it. The kid’s still 25, so he has time.

“He’s got that X-factor, but I want to get him more consistent. He was ordinary against Mzonke Fana, deadly against Escalada and then he dropped the pace before finishing in style against Jasper. I’m looking for him to be more consistent, more often. I’m confident it will come.”
