Wilder faces possible trip to Russia following Povetkin purse bid

This came to pass because both parties didn’t reach an agreement during the period of free negotiations, therefore the WBC held the purse bid.

Andrey Ryabinski, Povetkin´s promoter, won the rights of the match with an offer of $7.150.000, while promoter Lou DiBella (who works alongside PBC) offered $ 5,101,000.42.

Ryabinski has 15 days to set the date and venue of the fight which has to take place within the next 90 days.

Wilder (36-0, 35 KOs) conquered the WBC heavyweight title in January 2015 defeating Bermane Stiverne by decision. He has defended his title three different times, each by KO.

Povetkin (30-1, 22 KOs), has only suffered defeat against Wladimir Klitschko, but he was able to recover defeating tough rivals including Carlos Takam, Mike Perez, Mariusz Wach and Manuel Charr.
