Bothered by an eye problem that was apparently caused by an excessive amount of petroleum jelly that accidentally found its way in his right eye last Tuesday, Manny Pacquiao opted to train indoors for the second straight day yesterday.
The good news is that Pacquiao has been checked by an eye specialist and that he is ready to resume training with over six weeks remaining before he faces Tim Bradley for the third time in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao began wincing after his four-round sparring session with Ghislain Maduma, the Congolese-Canadian tapped by Mike Koncz to help the Filipino star whip himself into fiery form in time for the MGM Grand duel on April 9.
Not even a trip to the track oval was on Pacquiao’s itinerary as the 37-year-old eight-division titleholder spent the afternoon in the company of his wife Jinkee and one-year-old son Israel.
Still, Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach seems to be not alarmed over the snag since not only is Pacquiao right on schedule but the fight is still several weeks away.
Even before Roach arrived in the country, Pacquiao had kicked off training ten days earlier with roadworks held in General Santos City and gym sessions done in Manila.
As of yesterday, members of Team Pacquiao have been informed about their departure for the US on March 15 as training camp is doing fine although there still remains a possibility that it could happen on March 5.
