Brit heavyweight Nick Webb demolishes latest foe in 26 seconds

Unbeaten heavyweight prospect, Nick Webb (4-0) continued his march through the heavyweight rankings by demolishing Bulgarian opponent, Angel Angelov in just 26 seconds at the Brighton Metropole on February 12th.

The 28-year-old from Chertsey blasted through his opposition in devastating fashion, requiring just three punches to put him out of the scheduled four three-minute rounds contest.

Webb immediately crossed the ring from the opening bell, lining up Angelov with his left, judging the distance to throw a huge overhand right that missed the intended target, a follow up jab landed flush, followed up swiftly with a huge right hook to the head and then body – the offending shot that crashed his counterpart to the canvas.

Bravely, Angelov rose to his feet albeit in visible distress only for referee Robert Williams to call it an early night.

The decision was correct as Angelov quickly took to his corner seat still wincing from the pain. He could be still seen grimacing as he exited the arena five minutes later to a respectful applause from the home crowd.

Managed by Scott Welch, a former world heavyweight title challenger, Webb moved up to 4-0 while Angelov dropped to 2-3, leaving the venue with a losing record for the first time in his career.

Webb, who can now boast four first round finishes, said before the fight that getting rid of his foe in a quicker time than the current Southern Area champion, Dominic Akinlade would send a message to the crowd ranked above him.

He certainly made a statement and now has the Southern Area title within his sights.

The February 12th Crusader Events show, titled Battle on the Beach, at the Metropole Hotel saw popular Brighton boxer, Nicky Jenman (15-8-1) win the Southern Area middleweight title on points in a barnstormer of a contest against travelling opponent, Nathan Graham (17-8-1).

Also managed by Scott Welch, super-welterweight prospect Lloyd Ellett moved up to 19-1 with a comfortable points win over Slovakian opponent, Andrej Moravek (2-5-1).
