Stephen Ormond tops Boston card on March 19

The Saint Patrick’s Clash will feature a 12 round title fight with our own Stephen “The Rock” Ormond (20-2 11KOs) against Marcos ‘El Tigre” Jimenez (21-6 14KOs) for the Lightweight IBF Intercontinental Championship.

Stephen is coming off a successful 2015 that saw him first disqualified in the 10th round of a highly disputed loss in February to current WBO world light champion, Terry Flanagan, followed by three consecutive KO victories.

With a win March 19th at the House of Blues in Boston, Ormond would not only capture the IBF Intercontinental Championship, but would climb into the top 10 IBF World rankings and take another step closer to fighting for a major world championship.

“This is only the first step for Stephen Ormond in 2016. After he wins the IBF Intercontinental championship we will be working hard to secure him a major world championship fight”, said Ken Casey of Murphys Boxing. “This is going to be such a great night, House of Blues Boston, St. Patrick’s weekend, Stephen fighting the main event, the Dropkick Murphys playing, multiple championship fights, all at one show, how can you miss it.” continued Casey. “We will be announcing many more fights shortly with additional title fights. Tickets will sell out soon, so make sure to get them now.” concluded Casey.

The Saint Patrick’s Clash is the official after party of The Dropkick Murphys afternoon Agganis Arena show where they’ll be wrapping up their 20th anniversary tour. Thousands of rock fans will be coming straight from the show to the boxing and will sure to keep the amazing energy high all night, Dropkicks will close the night with a special acoustic set. The full fight card will be announced shortly with additional championship fights, as well as some very interesting local battles.
