Kieran Farrell has made the successful step into training, management and now promoting following life inside the ring, and has his first show coming up in the coming months.
Heywood’s Farrell is the owner and operator of The People’s Gym in Heywood, Greater Manchester and has already established a budding pro stable, inclusive of former three time ABA Champion Tommy Stubbs, Michael Gomez Jnr as well as Reece MacMillian amongst others.
MacMillian makes his professional bow on February 20th’s MGM Manchester show at Preston’s Guild Hall and Farrell has high hopes for his Welterweight prodigy.
“Reece is 20 years old. He came in at 19 and reminded me of myself from when I turned pro. I took him on the pads and he continued to remind me of myself. He’s a fiery kid and I like that. He gives 150 percent and I try and give it him back. He’s making his debut at welterweight on February 20th in Preston on a great show. We’ll look for a good performance and then take it from there.”
This will be the first Farrell trained fighter to take part on an MGM show; a show that showcases John Murray trained Chris Conwell, Anthony Farnell trained Lightweight Kofi Yates competing alongside many of Johnney Roye’s stable that includes Michael Ramabeletsa, Liam Conroy, Malcolm Klassen and Ashley Peyton, just to name a few. The former Central Area Lightweight champion speaks highly of MGM and envisions a good working relationship with the Spanish based outfit in the future.
“I want to keep working with MGM on a long term basis. MGM are doing good things in boxing and it’s great to see. MGM are the next big thing in boxing and I want to be a part of that.”
Reece MacMillian joins a show that showcases Liam Conroy, Michael Ramabeletsa and Lyndon Newman in British Challenge title fights. It also features former Central Area Lightweight Champion Kofi Yates amongst other top local prospects.
Tickets for the in-demand show are available from all boxers on the bill as well as by calling the Preston Guild Hall box office on 01772 804440.
